Two Tribal Leaders and One Alternate will represent each of the 12 BIA regions.

First Meeting of the Trust Reform Task Force
January 17, 2002
San Diego, California
in conjunction with the Department of the Interior Tribal Consultation.

This Trust Reform Task Force developed out of the initial proposal at the Albuquerque consultation and subsequent discussions at the Minneapolis and Oklahoma consultations.

NCAI President Tex Hall and Yurok Tribe Chairperson Susan Masten will serve as Co-Chairs of the Task Force along with Secretary of Interior Gale Norton and Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs Neal McCaleb.

In addition to the Tribal Leaders from each region, representatives from intertribal organizations such as the Council of Large Land Based Tribes, the InterTribal Monitoring Association on Trust Funds, the Indian Land Working Group, the InterTribal Timber Council, the InterTribal Agriculture Consortium, the Council of Energy Resource Tribes, the National Tribal Environmental Council, the Native American Fish and Wildlife Society, the Self-Governance Advisory Committee and a representative of the plaintiffs in the Cobell v. Norton litigation will serve as technical advisers to the Trust Reform Task Force.
