Tribal Alert UPDATE!! February 14, 2002 Department of the Interior Tribal Consultation on Indian Trust Assets Management; BIA to Pay for One Representative from Each Tribe to Attend; Deadline for Comments The Department of the Interior (DOI) has added an eighth Tribal Consultation on Indian Trust Assets Management for Portland, Oregon, on Thursday, February 14, 2002, at the Sheraton Airport Hotel. As a reminder, the BIA has agreed to pay for one representative from each tribe to attend the nearest consultation. Thus, if you have not already secured BIA assistance to attend the San Diego consultation on Thursday, January 17, 2002, and the Portland consultation is closer and more convenient for you, we encourage you to contact the BIA to make arrangements to send a tribal representative to the Portland consultation. The DOI may have reserved a block of rooms at a special rate for the Portland consultation. We therefore encourage you to contact the Sheraton Airport Hotel in Portland as soon as possible if you anticipate needing overnight accommodations. The final deadline for written comments remains on Friday, February 15, 2002. Your comments must be received in D.C. by then.
