CILS to Open In Washington D.C. Golfers Enjoy Friends of CILS Third Annual Golf Classic CILS Provides Regional ICWA Trainings CILS Receives Technology Grant Project ACORN Expands Services | Golfers Enjoy Friends of CILS 3rd Annual Golf ClassicThe Friends of CILS welcomed a record number of players to its annual Golf Classic on April 20, 2001, as over 100 golfers gathered for a shotgun start at the Eagle Crest Golf Club in Escondido.
Demonstrating its support of Indian rights once again, the California Correctional Peace Officers' Association (CCPOA) underwrote this annual fundraiser for CILS. The competition was close as Chairman Deron Marquez and his team from the San Manuel Band finished two strokes ahead of second place Titleist. One of three teams from the Barona Band took third place. Thanks to all of our supporters who purchased mulligans and raffle tickets. Some of the golfers and their guests took home wonderful raffle prizes including an assortment of CILS and Pechanga golf clothing, artwork donated by Juanita Sanchez, a gift basket from the Pauma Band, merchandise from The Pro Shop, a golf bag and a putter donated by John Gomez, Jr., tickets to events at the Pechanga Entertainment Center, dinner for two at Roy's in La Jolla, and dinner for two and a weekend get-away package from the U.S. Grant Hotel. CILS acknowledges the generous support of the CCPOA and also wishes to thank those Tribes and organizations whose sponsorship and participation made this year's Golf Classic a success: the Pechanga Band, San Manuel Band, Morongo Band, Barona Band, Soboba Band, Sycuan Band, Rincon Indian Education Center, Pechanga Development Corporation, Barona Casino, Colusa Casino, A.G. Edwards and Associates, Pacific Coast Gaming, the Gomez family, Holland & Knight, Ad-Pro, and the team of USD law students. Watch for our Fourth Annual Golf Classic in Spring 2002! |
