CILS SEEKS NOMINATIONS FOR GOVERNING BOARD

CALIFORNIA INDIAN LEGAL SERVICES BOARD POSITIONS

California Indian Legal Services ("CILS") has openings on our Board for tribal representatives from the northern, central and southern regions of California.

The northern region consists of the following counties: Del Norte, Humboldt, Lassen, Modoc, Plumas, Shasta, Siskiyou, Tehama, and Trinity. The individual for the northern region representation must reside in one of these counties. There is currently one opening available to tribal representatives from this region.

The central region consists of the following counties: Alameda, Alpine, Amador, Butte, Calaveras, Colusa, Contra Costa, El Dorado, Fresno, Glenn, Inyo, Kern, Kings, Lake, Madera, Marin, Mariposa, Mendocino, Merced, Mono, Monterey, Napa, Nevada, Placer Sacramento, San Benito, San Francisco, San Joaquin, San Luis Obispo, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Sierra, Solano, Sonoma, Stanislaus, Sutter, Tulare, Tuolumne, Yolo and Yuba. The individual for the central region representation must reside in one of these counties. There are currently two openings available to tribal representatives from this region.

The southern region consists of the following counties: Imperial, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, Santa Barbara and Ventura. The individual for the southern region representation must reside in one of these counties. There are currently two openings available to tribal representatives from this region.

The CILS Board is composed of California Indians nominated by California tribes and other Indian organizations. It is important that CILS is governed by a committed and knowledgeable Indian Board, so please contact us as soon as possible.

We must receive the nomination and application materials (i.e, cover letter, resume and tribe/organization nomination on tribal/organizational letterhead) no later than August 22, 2003. All appointments will require a resolution from the appointing tribe/organization.
