CILS TRIBAL COURTS CONFERENCE 2008!

Back by popular demand this two-day state-wide conference will feature a host of panel discussions on topics relevant to tribal courts, tribal leaders, and the tribal community. Featured presenters will include tribal court judges and representatives from tribal courts in California, as well as other experts from across the state to present information about gaining community support for tribal courts, creating judicial independence, preparing rules of ethics for tribal court judges and much more.

CILS WELCOMES A NEW ERA OF LEADERSHIP!

California Indian Legal Services (CILS) is pleased to announce that Devon Lee Lomayesva has been hired as our new Executive Director. Ms. Lomayesva, a member of the Iipay Nation of Santa Ysabel, is the first California Indian to lead CILS.

FREE TAX PREPARATION FOR LOW-INCOME TAXPAYERS!

This tax season, CALIFORNIA INDIAN LEGAL SERVICES is again partnering with the LEGAL AID SOCIETY OF ORANGE COUNTY to provide free tax return assistance to low- income taxpayers using I-CAN!™ E-FILE. ICAN! E-FILE is an online program designed to allow eligible taxpayers to e-file or print out and mail tax returns. The service is available to most HOUSEHOLDS WITH INCOMES UNDER $50,000.
