TRIBAL ALERT
United States Department of Justice Tribal Nation’s:
“Listening Session on Public Safety and Law Enforcement”
On October 28th and 29th 2009 the Department of Justice will be conducting a “Listening Session” in St. Paul, Minnesota to discuss tribal law enforcement and public safety. This is an opportunity for California tribes to be heard on the lack of funding from the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Office of Justice Services, for both tribal law enforcement and tribal courts. Attached is the Department of Justice’s announcement for the Listening Session and details on the agenda and location.
If you cannot attend the Listening Session you may submit comments to the Department. Attached is a short comment letter that you may use to address the lack of funding for tribal courts and law enforcement in California.
