UPDATE! SB 678 Passes California Assembly and Senate!
On August 24, 2006, SB 678 was passed by the California Assembly by a vote of 79 in favor, 0 opposed. On August 30, 2006, the bill was passed by the California Senate with a vote of 35 in favor, 0 opposed.
SB 678 amends the California Family Code, Probate Code, and Welfare and Institutions Code to codify the minimum federal standards of the Indian Child Welfare Act and to clarify the interplay of these standards and existing state law.
